Frank Grillo to play Crossbones

Frank Grillo has been confirmed to play Crossbones in the Captain America sequel.

3 Nov – Following the casting of Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed in the upcoming Marvel superhero film "Thor: The Dark World" and the premiere of Marvel's "Iron Man 3" trailer, it was recently revealed that American actor Frank Grillo has been casted as the villainous Crossbones in Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

According to AceShowbiz, the 47-year-old actor may also reprise his role in the possible third Captain America movie and as the Red Skull's henchman in another highly-anticipated Marvel movie, director Joss Whedon's "The Avengers 2".

Crossbones, who is also known as Brock Rumlow, usually appears as a henchman of the Red Skull. The supervillain is one of the few who does not possess any superhuman powers, but he is known as the world's best hand-to-hand combatant who also carries out the assassination of Captain America in the Marvel comics.

Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders will reconnect with Chris Evans in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

Aside from Grillo, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders will also appear in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", reprising their roles as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Black Widow, Nick Fury and Maria Hill respectively, revealed Variety.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" will pit the Captain against his former friend Bucky Barnes, who has turned into an assassin for the Soviets after being struck by amnesia. It will also introduce Anthony Mackie as The Hawk, Marvel's first African-American superhero, to audiences who have not read the original comics.

The superhero film directed by Anthony and Joe Russo is set to hit the U.S. theatres on 4 April 2014, and stars Chris Evans as the titular character.
