Liew Seng Tat wants talents


Director Liew Seng Tat is opening a two-day audition to the public for his second film, "In What City Does It Live?".

18 Sep – Great news for those who are eager to take a shot at acting in a Malaysian production, Everything Films is currently looking for talented people to join the cast line-up of director Liew Seng Tat's second directorial feature "In What City Does It Live?"

Directed by Liew Seng Tat, produced by Sharon Gan and Liew, the film is based on a script written by Liew during his time as a resident filmmaker at Cinefondation Cannes Residency in France a few years ago. The independent movie tells of two men from different backgrounds whose lives intersect when one of them, a Malay villager named Pak Awang, decides to relocate and restore an abandoned house near the village as a wedding gift for his only daughter. The other, a Nigerian immigrant named Solomon, stumbles upon the house that was being moved and decides to hide in it from the local authorities.

"In What City Does It Live?" aims to depict themes of alienation, belonging, and acceptance through the cohesive spirit of a village community with irony, superstitions, racism and humour as its ingredients.

Liew is currently looking for African men between the ages of 20 to 28; however, one must be of 180cm and above while the other must be of 160cm and below. In addition, they are also looking for Malay man who is between the ages of 45 to 55 and has slit eyes.

Everything Films is a local independent production company that was founded by Liew in 2010. Film director, scriptwriter and producer Liew shot to fame with his 2007 directorial debut "Flower In The Pocket", which swept numerous awards at international film festivals in Busan, Rotterdam, Fribourg and Pesaro.
