28 Nov – The grand launch of TGV SetiaWalk, Puchong and the introduction of the chain's new digital projection system, 3D-X, underwent hiccups that occurred with the debut 3D-X premiere of "Life Of Pi" last night for which moviegoers had to sit through an hour of delay. The premiere screening of the much anticipated movie which opens in cinemas this Thursday, 29 November, was supposedly to commence at 6:20pm at the new 8 hall TGV cinema, but was delayed for an hour due to a technical glitch that had transpired within the 3D-X system. It is reported that the glitch was triggered by a malfunctioning hard disk that had gone corrupted. By 7:15pm as the glitch proved longer to resolve, moviegoers seated at multiple halls at the cinema were then shown the 2D version of the movie instead. Although several guests were disappointed to have not experienced the movie in 3D-X, nonetheless they were sated to able to catch the movie two days before the general local release albeit being screened in 2D.
"Changed theatre hall twice. Was supposed to be a 3D show but ended up with 2D. Disappointed with that," expressed Keewin Ong, one of the guests of the screening on TGV's Facebook page. In a statement released today by TGV, CEO Kenny Wong expressed his heartfelt apologies saying, "We would like to apologise for the less than ideal technical glitch that happened during the screening of "The Life of Pi". Our engineers and technical teams are looking into rectifying the situation. We are positive that the circumstances will be overcome and able to deliver a great movie going experience in your next visit." The 3D-X technology with the tagline; 'XtraClear, XtraBright and XtraOrdinary' is TGV's new addition to their cinemas, offering a projection system that delivers additional brightness, sharpness and crisp 2D and 3D images for the silver screen.
