11 Jan – Malaysian superstar Maya Karin was recently revealed to have signed a contract with advertising, branding and content creation agency Creative Republic for its new 3D advertising campaign which will feature her in five commercials, according to Adoi Magazine.

Maya Karin is a well-known Malaysian actress and television personality

It has been confirmed by the agency that the first episode will be shot on 13 January, and will involve heavy usage of high tension cable rigs which will hoist the 32-year-old actress up in the air. This will then be given a 3D treatment which involves animation and special effects.

"We are delighted to have Maya Karin on board," enthused Creative Republic's chief executive officer, Esther Tan.

The five television commercials will be an episodic series with a overarching narrative, which sees Maya playing the lead who is contemplating the fate of Planet Earth.

"The commercials will be directed by writer-director Anthony Wong, who is famed in the industry for helming Malaysian commercials featuring superstars including Michelle Yeoh, Ryan Giggs, Steven Gerard, Michael Owen, Sheila Majid and Maya herself," explained Tan.

"Maya has gone through the storyboards with Anthony and she has been very enthusiastic about not just the special effects involved but more importantly, the substance of the script, which has a very strong environmental message," she added.

However, the client behind this advertising campaign is yet to be revealed.

"We are not at liberty to reveal our client's identity at this stage due to our non-disclosure obligation, since the work is still in production and not yet made public," said Tan.

She further elaborated that the upcoming advertising campaign will set a precedent for future commercials as 3D movies did.

The commercials will each be 40 seconds long and will air in March 2012 with the main thematic commercial to be on both public and private broadcasting channels while the four subsequent commercials will be broadcast exclusively on the internet.
