MBO KL Festival City opens

12 Jan – MCAT Box Office Sdn. Bhd. or MBO Cinemas welcomed 2012 with their first cinema opening this year, boasting 7 screening halls at the newly launched KL Festival City, Danau Kota, Setapak, which will be officially opened for the public today.

The launch comes just a month and a half later after MBO's Space U8 Cineplex in Shah Alam which opened its doors last 24 November 2011.

MBO's 15th Cineplex occupies the highest floor of KL Festival City and like its branch at Space U8, encompasses 7 halls including 3 halls equipped with X-mirror digital projection system for 3D projection capabilities. The Cineplex has a total seating capacity of 1,072.

Like its other flagships, the walls of the Cineplex are decorated with a 'word search' feature, with names and titles of local and international artistes and movies, as well as various movie posters which deck the hallways. However, unlike the rest, the Cineplex has intricate hand carved teak wood panels along the walls which is a minor, yet unique attribute that sets it apart from the rest.

MBO's Chief Operating Officer, Ikmal Nizam Ariffin said that their target market apart from the shoppers would also be college students due to the fact that TARC College (Tunku Abdul Rahman College) is situated just a stone's throw away at Jalan Genting Kelang.

He also revealed that for this year, MBO plans to open up 2 other branches at Kota Tinggi and Citta Mall, Ara Damansara by the third quarter of 2012 at least. He added that there are also plans to expand the existing Cineplex at MBO Terminal 2 Seremban from 6 halls to 10.
