10 Feb – Fans are definitely not alone in feeling disappointed that the last film of the "Harry Potter" franchise, "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" was not nominated for any major awards at this year's Academy Awards, to be held on 26 February 2012, for Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe revealed his disappointment too, according to Daily Chilli. Despite being an epic fantasy drama, it appears that "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" may not have been eligible for Best Picture due to its title being part of a larger franchise, which consists of eight films based on the seven books written by British novelist J. K. Rowling. The movie only managed to walk away with nominations for technical awards, which are Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup. According to 22-year-old Radcliffe, "I don't think the Oscars like commercial films or kids' films, unless they're directed by Martin Scorsese." He added, "I was watching "Hugo" the other day and going, 'Why is this nominated and we're not?' I was slightly miffed." Scorsese's latest work, "Hugo" is a 3D fantasy film about the revival of Georges Méliès and the glory of cinema, and has been proven to be a hit with fans and critics alike. The movie topped the list with 11 Oscar nominations this year and this gave way to speculations that the equally-raved-about "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" will get the franchise its first Best Picture nod. "There's a certain amount of snobbery. It's kind of disheartening. I never thought I'd care. But it would've been nice to have some recognition, just for the hours put in," said the indignant Radcliffe.
