4 Mar – Malaysian supermodel-turned-actress Amber Chia has had a fruitful year in the movie industry in 2012 and the 31-year-old mother is currently in discussions to take up another role in local director Yoko Chou's yet-to-be-announced second directorial effort. Last year, Chia played a 17-year-old girl in the leading role of Chou's onscreen directorial debut "Tears Of The Mom", a tear-jerking drama that follows a badminton player who is torn between his professional career and staying in the village to search for a cure for his mother. Recently, the actress confirmed that the director is preparing to shoot a new film and has invited her to join the cast. "Yes, Yoko is working on her second movie and she did talk to me about that. But nothing about my role has been confirmed yet," said Chia. She added, "I also received invitations from other film producers as well. The filming of their productions are mostly done outstation for a long period of time. Therefore, I would really think twice before I decide to join them because I'm not only busy working on my modelling career, I'm also a mother at the same time so I can't stay away from my son for too long."
Apart from her acting career, Chia is also spending more time on expanding her own business, the modelling and make-up academy "Amber Chia Academy", which was launched back in 2010. Last week, her academy had launched three brand new courses that are created for the brides, flight attendants and pageants. "We are trying to fulfil the public's needs in Malaysia by providing courses for those who want to be well-prepared for their weddings, learn great interview skills for getting a job at the airlines, and the ladies who are eager to excel in the beauty pageant," Chia explained. Chia also previously starred in "Trio & A Bed", "Possessed" and "Hantu Gangster".
