12 Nov – As a fresh and new up and coming actor, Amirul Ariff first taste of fame is already slowly started to build up especially with feel good local film "Kolumpo" coming out in theatres this December.
The young actor has already had a chance to work with the likes of Sharifah Amani, Shiekh Munasar, Azad Jazmin and even Bront Palarae!
"I met Amirul as he was still studying in Aswara, the creative arts school. I quite like what he did for his casting auditions," said director Shiekh Munasar, "He showed his vulnerability in front of the camera, which made it easier for him to fit in to his character.
"When I first saw him, he was just the guy who helped out with the technical side of films," exclaimed co-star Azad Jazmin, "And now he's starring alongside Sharifah Amani!"
Even with the help of a prestigious arts school, the apple didn't fall far from the tree. "My father is a film critic so films weren't too much of a stretch for me."
When he was asked if his father would critic "Kolumpo", he responded with a laugh, "I don't know! I hope not!"
"Kolumpo" is a collection of three multilingual shorts directed by Bront Palarae, Sheikh Munasar, and Rozi Izma set in Kuala Lumpur, where the story weaves together the common themes of life, hopes and dreams.
The movie comes out on 5 December 2013.
