28 Jan – Who says Jackie Chan has not got 'it' anymore? His latest movie "CZ12" has managed to rake in RM20 million at the local box office making it the action superstar's highest grossing movie in the country! Locally distributed by Golden Screen Cinemas' movie distribution arm, GSC Movies, "CZ12" had also broken the record to make it as the nation's highest grossing Chinese movie to date. The figure was revealed by GSC's CEO Ms. Koh Mei Lee and the General Manager of GSC Movies Mr. Tung Yow Kong at a celebration dinner for "CZ12" hosted by GSC Movies recently. "I would like to thank everyone who watched "CZ12" and I'm grateful that the movie had managed to gross RM20 million in Malaysia. I will see you again, hopefully in part 2 of "CZ12", said Jackie Chan via a special video message recorded especially for Malaysian audiences.
Released on 20 December 2012, the movie had already broken numerous records by achieving the highest opening week for a Chinese film taking in RM15 million in a span of only 13 days surpassing the record previously set by "Cold War" which had grossed RM5 million in 11 days. "CZ12" has Jackie reprising his role as the adventurer and treasure hunter Asian Hawk, who is seeking to repatriate twelve bronze heads of the animals of the Chinese zodiac that were looted from the Old Summer Palace in the Second Opium War. As for the movie being Jackie's last action film, the star had refuted the claims during his recent visit to Malaysia for "CZ12" promo events by revealing that he and action star Sylvester Stallone are currently in talks for bringing Jackie over for the third installment of "The Expendables".
