"Dracula" returns with Luke Evans

Luke Evans's casting as Dracula comes as a surprise.

10 Apr – Recently, Luke Evans was confirmed to be playing the iconic blood-sucker, Dracula in the eponymous "Dracula", previously known as "Dracula Year Zero".

Sam Worthington was originally linked to the film when Alex Proyas still helmed directing duties but left the project after Gary Shore is attached to direct.

The casting of Evans came as a surprise as it will be his first lead role in a film. The actor is known for his appearances in "Clash Of The Titans" as Apollo and as Aramis in "The Three Musketeers".

"Dracula" will explore the origins of Dracula, a prince who risks his soul in order to protect his wife and son from an evil sultan, thus begins his legacy of being the first vampire in the world. Filming is set to begin next year.

Meanwhile, Evans can next be seen in "Fast And Furious 6" as villain Owen Shaw, set to be released on 23 May in Malaysia and Singapore, as well as Bard the Bowman in "The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug", opening nationwide on 12 December.
