7 Jan – The search for the lead in Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy" has already started and those rumoured / confirmed to be in the running to play Peter Quill aka Star-Lord include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Rosenbaum, Jim Sturgess and Zachary Levi. So far, Rosenbaum, famed for playing Lex Luthor on television's "Smallville", has confirmed via Twitter that he had auditioned for the part. Variety had previously reported that three actors had been shortlisted to take on the role which includes Jim Sturgess, who will next be seen in "Cloud Atlas" and Levi, best known from the TV series "Chuck".
The identity of the third actor had been unknown, but it is widely circulated that Gordon-Levitt, fresh from stepping into Batman's shoes in "The Dark Knight Rises", is being considered by studios for the lead in this latest superhero film. No casting decisions have been announced by Marvel yet. "Guardians Of The Galaxy" revolves around an intergalactic team of superheroes who is led by Quill, who is half-human and half-extraterrestrial, hailing from the future and another dimension. The movie will be directed by James Gunn and set for release in 2015.
