Hazama not up to the challenge

Hazama Azmi is more comfortable with singing.

25 May – While he does step out into film roles every now and then, Hazama Azmi has insisted that his heart belongs to music, and to stray too deep into characters he is not used to for film roles would be beyond his comfort zone.

Hazama Azmi plays Aaron Aziz's friend and comic relief in "Lari".
Hazama also made it clear that he wanted to separate his singing and his acting careers as he does not want to be classified as a joker.

"I do not want to have too much comedy characters under my belt, because later people will remember me as a joker. It will be difficult if I deliver sad songs if it isn't believable to the audience," he said.

Directed by Ahmad Idham, "Lari" raises the issue of human trafficking as Khalil struggles to find his sister Ina who had been abducted by human traffickers. The film is to be screened across Malaysia on 6 June 2013, including Singapore and Brunei. It will also be one of the Malaysian films to be shown at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

This is Hazama's second film with director Ahmad Idham, an offer which he accepted only because he is comfortable with the director.

"I am new in this field and I think my Ahmad Idham has a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses. I admit that I am still afraid to accept offers from other productions so far."
