"Jurassic Park 4" renamed

A still of "Jurassic Park".

11 Sep – Fans of the iconic dinosaur franchise will be pleased to learn that the fourth instalment for the "Jurassic Park" franchise officially has a name! Universal has announced the new title last Tuesday, and it will be called "Jurassic World".

The film had also been scheduled for an opening in 2014, but after production delays Universal decided to postpone it until mid-2015.

The film will be directed by Colin Trevorrow of "Safety Not Guarenteed" fame and Steven Spielberg, who directed the 1993 original and its 1997 follow-up, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park", will produce. Trevorrow will direct from a draft of a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly, and the film will be shot in 3D.

"The name Jurassic World obviously has different connotations than Jurassic Park, something that was included in all of the previous movies. In the three Jurassic Park movies, dinosaurs existed within the parks, but the new title seems to suggest that they have roamed the entire earth," remarks Hypable writer Andrew Sims.

"Jurassic World" is currently expected to be released the weekend of June 12, 2015.
