Lee Pace joins Ben Foster in Armstrong

Lee Pace will join actor Ben Foster in the biographical feature film about Lance Armstrong.

17 Nov – Director Stephen Frears' biographical feature film about former professional road racing cyclist Lance Armstrong is slowly taking shape, with actor Lee Pace confirmed as the latest member of the cast.

It is still uncertain as to what role Lee Pace will be playing, but Ben Foster has already been casted as the man himself and Chris O'Dowd as sports journalist David Walsh, who chronicled Armstrong's Tour de France triumphs. Other cast members include Jesse Plemons ("Breaking Bad") and Guillaume Canet ("Tell No One").

The film's script is written by John Hodge ("Trance"), and chronicles the American cyclist's meteoric rise to fame, battles with cancer, as well as his equally fast fall from grace after it was proved that he had been using performance enhancing drugs to achieve his successes. Adapted from Walsh's book "Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit Of Lance Armstrong", the untitled film may receive a shorter or similar title.

Lee Pace will next be seen as Thranduil in "The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug" and Ronan the Accuser in Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy". Meanwhile, Frears will also direct "Mercury", a biographical feature film about Freddie Mercury, the lead vocalist and lyricist of the rock band Queen.
