1 Jul – For those wondering how important the new characters will be in "The Avengers 2", the film's director, Joss Whedon, has emphasised that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will play big roles in the sequel. Just last month, Whedon revealed his plans to include two additional characters, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, in "The Avengers" sequel, and also casted Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the role of Quicksilver. Meanwhile, "The Host" star Saiorse Ronan is strongly linked to the role of Scarlet Witch. Quicksilver will not only be appearing in "The Avengers 2" but also in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days Of Future Past". However, Evan Peters will be playing the character in the latter.
According to Whedon, FOX does hold the rights for the character, and the arrangement that they have come to for the different versions of Quicksilver is this: "We both have them, there's a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use them with "The Avengers", but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage, while they [Bryan Singer and his team] can use them as mutants and as Magneto's relatives, but cannot have anything to do with "The Avengers"." Additionally, Whedon had wanted to work on a Wonder Woman movie, but his plans never took off. The director is currently busy working on "The Avengers 2", which will begin shooting in March 2014.
