10 Dec – Actress Yeo Yann, who is Malaysian born, had won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the internationally acclaimed film "Ilo Ilo" just about two weeks ago.

"If you want to know, when my name was called out to receive the award my brain went blank, my lips didn't know what to say and I didn't even know how to react to it!" Yeo Yann told the press.

Born in Johor, the 36 year old actress had recently been compared to Datuk Michelle Yeoh for bringing a good name to Malaysia and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib even sends his congratulations.

Yeo Yann continued, "When we were making the film (Ilo Ilo), we had no idea where this film will end up but we still worked hard , night and day, without thinking of what the results would be!"

Before getting recognition, Yeo had only ever dreamt of receiving awards, but now she has received the award for Best Supporting Actress for "Ilo Ilo" at the Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan not too long ago, as well as the award for Best Actress in the Pacific Meridian Film Festival in Russia and Best Actress in the International Mumbai Film Festival in India this year!

Before dominating Singapore with acting jobs including "Ilo Ilo", Yeo Yann also had a role in "Muallaf", the Malaysian film by acclaimed director Yasmin Ahmad, who had passed away in 2009.

"I worked in the film as a bar owner, and I also worked for several of Yasmin's commercials. She was brave enough to count on me for my acting skills, and yes I still do miss her," said Yeo.
