"Alice in Wonderland 2" has new title

2 Jun – The sequel to Tim Burton's 2010 Disney hit "Alice In Wonderland", will be titled "Through The Looking Glass" which is expected for release in 2016.

Villain of "The Amazing Spider-Man", Rhys Ifans is tapped to play the role of Zanik Hightopp, the Mad Hatter's father, who is described as someone who "cannot hide his bright-colored hair beneath a top hat."

Pairing with Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter, Ifans will be joining Mia Waiskowska who will play Alice again and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen with James Bobin ("The Muppets") directing the sequel instead of Tim Burton.


Mia Waiskowska will return to play the lead, Alice.

The screenplay will be written by "Alice In Wonderland's" Linda Wolverton again, who also recently wrote the script for Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent".

"Alice In Wonderland" had grossed over USD1 billion in box office sales worldwide when it was released in 2010.
