Amy Adams to star in Janis Joplin biopic

Amy Adams to portray Janis Joplin in the latter's biopic.

24 Nov – Amy Adams finally gets her long-time wish of playing the big screen version of Janis Joplin fulfilled. The Oscar-nominated actress is set to play the legendary rock star in Joplin's upcoming biopic, "Get It While You Can", Deadline reports.

Adams first signed on to portray the rock legend in 2010, back when "City of God" director Fernando Meirelles was set to direct.

As of now, Meirelles is no longer attached to the project as the directing baton has been passed to Jean-Marc Vallee, director and editor of "Dallas Buyers Club" and most recently, 2014 biographical drama "Wild", based on Cheryl Strayed's memoir "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail".

Filming for the biopic is expected to begin middle 2015.

Adams stars in another biopic, Tim Burton's "Big Eyes", portraying American artist Margaret Keane. The movie is set for release on Christmas day in North America.

Adams will also be reprising her role as Lois Lane in 2013's "Man of Steel" sequel, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", scheduled for release on 25 March 2016.
