Biggest cinema to open in East M'sia


The Box Office counter at LFS Summer Shopping Mall which opens this on 24 April.

17 Apr – Moviegoers in East Malaysia will see to the opening of their largest cineplex yet, as Lotus Five Star (LFS) Cinemas is set to open a 12-screen cinema at Kota Samarahan this 24 April 2014 with free screenings.

The fully digital cineplex will be housed at the Summer Shopping Mall and is Sarawak's second LFS cinema following LFS Riverside in Kuching.


The Summer Shopping Mall at Kota Samarahan, Sarawak which houses the biggest cinema in East Malaysia.
The RM25 million cineplex has an overall seating capacity of 2,038 and will introduce several new additions which include the long-awaited arrival of Dolby Atmos sound system in East Malaysia, the Lotus Hall as well as the Five Star Hall.

The Lotus Hall is a premiere hall concept which encompasses the best plush seats in the Cineplex compared to the other halls. It also will include Love Nest seats, which are LFS' couple seats catered to couples or friends who want to seat close together.

The Five Star Hall will house a giant screen, which will be the biggest screen in East Malaysia. It will play major blockbuster movies and will also include slightly bigger seats than the usual standard halls.

In conjunction with the opening, LFS will be hosting free screenings from 24 to 30 April, and a total of 10 movies will be available to pick from.

After the free screening run, the cineplex will officially be open for movie ticket purchases on 1 May 2014 onwards.
