Thais adopting the "Hunger Games" salute.

21 Nov – Back in June, Thai citizens adopted the three-finger salute as a way to show their protest against the country's military coup. Now that "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1" is showing in cinemas, Thai citizens are once again resurfacing the sign.

According to NBC News, Apex Group, one of Thailand's main cinema chains, has decided to pull the movie and replace it with Woody Allen's "Magic In The Moonlight." The decision to do so came after it was found out that an anti-coup group was staging a protest at its Scala theater.

200 tickets were requested from Apex for the movie's premiere at said theater on Thursday. Apex later found out 160 of the tickets were being offered for free on Facebook by The League of Liberal Thammasat for Democracy under a campaign titled, "Raise Three Fingers, Bring Popcorn and Go to the Movies."

So far eight students have been arrested over the salute. Five were detained after flashing it at Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha on Wednesday, another three were detained at the opening of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part I in Bangkok on Thursday.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1" recently opened in cinemas on 20 November 2014.
