9 May - "The Flintstones" is going to be rebooted for cinema again, and this time instead of the live action films we've watched in the 90s, the future film will be an animation. With the help of comedian and actor Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, they will be producing a film with writer Chris Henchy who wrote film scripts like "The Campaign" with Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, and "The Other Guys" which also stars Ferrell. The last time the popular classic cartoon of the 1960s "The Flintstones" was made into a film, it was a 1994 live action movie starring John Goodman, Rick Moranis and Rosie O'Donnell. The film, although famed for its troubled production as at one point it tried to credit all 32 writers on the same film, was a hit which made US$130 million at the box office.
"The Flintstones" franchise was even followed by an unpopular sequel called "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" in 2000. Seth MacFarlane, creator of "Family Guy", once was even developing a reboot of the cartoon a few years ago, but it ultimately failed to move forward in 2012 because reports say that executives weren't thrilled with his script, and Fox president Kevin Riley said he "likes it but doesn't love it." So far, there is no date announced for the new film to be released yet, or who would be starring as the titular characters in the film.
