"Seventh" hits 1 million mark on first week

"Seventh" hits the 1 million mark in just one week.

27 Oct – Local horror movie "Seventh" proves there is strong support for locally produced films as it has managed to surpass RM1,000,000 after opening for just one week in the cinemas.

Released on 16 October 2014, the movie has since been receiving great response from moviegoers. It even manages to edge out the competition, such as Hollywood-produced "Kristy" and Thai horror "The Rooms".

"Seventh" tells the story of Cannon and Mimi, who visit a haunted mansion to hunt for ghosts, in an attempt to win a supernatural-themed photography competition. The couple meets Yi, the grandson of the housekeeper who has recently passed away. The three start experiencing supernatural disturbances in the house during the deceased's seven-day wake.

The horror flick stars Taiwanese Gino, Singaporean Mindee Ong and Malaysian talents Teddy Chin and Kim Thian. It is written and directed by Ryon Lee, who is well known for penning the script of Malaysia's highest grossing local movie, "The Journey".

Ryon and producer Aron Koh are grateful for the positive response thus far and hope the movie continue to generate interest among fans of horror movies.
