9 Jun – By now every "X-Men" fan knows that actor Channing Tatum, the star of "22 Jump Street" will be playing Gambit, a mutant with the ability to manipulate kinetic energy to his own desire, however, the actor has now voiced his desire for a possible standalone film to explore the character before joining the "X-Men" ensemble. Although not confirmed whether Tatum will be appearing in the upcoming "X-Men" ensemble sequel; "X-Men: Apocalypse" in 2016, Tatum expressed that he wants a solo film for Gambit similar to the film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", so that the character can be re-introduced. First introduced for film in 2009, Gambit was originally played by "Battleship" actor Taylor Kitsch in the movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". Tatum mentioned, "We've talked about it being a standalone, first, and actually trying to change the "hero" superhero movie. Because Gambit is not your typical hero, he's a thief. He walks on the grey. I'm hoping we can change it a little bit and then ultimately feather into the other ones."
Presently, there is no director or writer attached to this project, however, according to ComingSoon.net, it is possible that Gambit could be next untitled Marvel Movie which is currently set for release on July 18, 2018. The latest "X-Men" film, "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" which was released on 22 May 2014, has thus far grossed USD600 million in box office sales worldwide.
