27 Jul – Actor-turned-director Angelina Jolie is gearing up for her next project, and this time she will have her eldest child working alongside her as the subject matter is also something close to her adopted son's heart. Jolie will be making a big screen adaptation of Cambodian author and human rights activist Luong Ung's book, "First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers", according to Entertainment Tonight. Cambodian-born Maddox, the eldest of Jolie's six children whom she adopted back in 2002, will also work on the production though it was not mentioned in what way the 13-year-old will be involved.
Jolie is directing and producing the movie for Netflix, and has co-written the script with Luong Ung. The two reportedly became friends when Jolie contacted Ung after the latter's book, which recounts Ung's personal experiences during the Khmer Rouge Years, was first published in 2000. "It deepened forever my understanding of how children experience war and are affected by the emotional memory of it," said Jolie. "And it helped me draw closer still to the people of Cambodia, my son's homeland." Jolie first started her feature directorial efforts with 2011's "In the Land of Blood and Honey", followed by 2014's Oscar-nominated "Unbroken" and the upcoming "By The Sea", in which she will also star opposite husband Brad Pitt. The movie adaptation will premiere on Netflix in 2016. (Photo source: The Huffington Post)
