Benedict Cumberbatch expecting first baby

Sophie Hunter and Benedict Cumberbatch.

9 Jan – It's only been two months since "The Imitation Game" star Benedict Cumberbatch and actress-director Sophie Hunter got engaged, but the couple is already happily expecting their first child.

Sophie's pregnancy rumour first sparked when she was spotted attending the 2015 Palm Springs International Film Festival earlier this month in a maxi dress that appeared baggy around the midsection, Today reports.

Now that the rumours have been confirmed as true, Cumberbatch's legions of fangirls are no doubt heartbroken, but still supportive of the actor, as evident by some of the lighthearted posts on social media.

Cumberbatch was last seen – or heard, more like – in "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" as the voice of Smaug. The final movie in the "Hobbit" trilogy was released in December 2014 and has so far made a total gross of USD743 million worldwide.

Cumberbatch will star next in highly-acclaimed film, "The Imitation Game", which plays in Malaysian cinemas on 5 February 2015.
