1 Apr – Earlier last month, it was reported that Johnny Depp had sustained a hand injury in Queensland, Australia and had returned to the U.S. for treatment; temporarily unable to continue shooting his part in "Pirates of the Caribbean 5".

Now word has it that the star's absence from the set is affecting the production; according to Variety, it has been halted for the moment.

While the filming has continued after Depp's injury, which Disney stated happened off the set, some 200 crew were informed this week that they would be taking a temporary break until the middle of this month. Filming is expected to resume on 15 April.

Depp reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for the fifth time in the upcoming movie. He last appeared as the character in the fourth instalment, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". The 2011 movie made USD1 billion worldwide; collecting USD5.5 million in Malaysia and USD4 million in Singapore.

The fifth movie, subtitled "Dead Men Tell No Tales", also co-stars Javier Bardem and Geoffrey Rush. Disney previously confirmed that despite the hiccups, it will still be released in July 2017.
