5 Feb – Malaysian start-up, MovieGoGo brings Malaysians the Cinema-On-Demand platform which allows audiences to request and pick the movies they would like to see playing at their local cinemas. A crowdfunding based platform that has long existed in North America, is now introduced for Malaysians who can watch movies that are usually not shown in cinemas like; Classics, Documentaries, Anime or even popular movies that they have missed seeing at the cinema so they could request for a rescreening. Speaking of the Cinema-On-Demand mechanics, MovieGoGo founder Alan Chong said, "As long as there are people requesting for the movie via our Facebook and also our website, we will do our best to bring the movie to cinemas provided that we can meet the minimum amount of attendees and ticket sales for the screening to be held." Once a movie request is submitted to MovieGoGo and is approved by the cinema, the campaign will begin on MovieGoGo's crowdfunding web-platform with its ticket sales. If the minimum amount of attendees for the screening is met, then the movie will be shown. If it does not meet the minimum, then the screening will be called off and no one will be charged.
