Rebooted "It" movie finds its evil clown

Will Poulter as Gally in 2014's "The Maze Runner".

6 May – The rebooted movie adaptation of Stephen King's novel "It" has been in the works for years, and finally there is a name attached to star in the project.

"The Maze Runner" actor Will Poulter will be taking on the role of the evil clown called Pennywise, according to Variety.

Director Cary Fukunaga ("True Detective") reportedly was very impressed by the 22-year-old's audition and decided that he was right for the role, even though the actor is much younger than the original character in the book.

Although this would be the first time that the novel is being adapted for the big screen, back in 1990 it spawned a highly successful two-part TV miniseries which starred actor Tim Curry as the terrifying clown.

Poulter, who also previously acted in movies such as 2010's "The Chronicles of Narnia" and 2013's "We're the Millers", will be playing an evil monster disguised as a clown that lures children, in this story about a group of outcast kids who is on a mission to take down the monster haunting their town.

Like the TV miniseries, Fukunaga will be splitting the adaptation into two movies. The first one will feature the main characters as 1980's kids while the second will feature them as grown-ups in the present day.

Production on "It" starts middle of this year, though no release date has been confirmed.
