26 Jun – It's no secret that it's tough to survive in the movie industry, let alone in the local movie industry. But the production company of Sofi Jikan's upcoming movie "Gangsterock: Kasi Sengat" is looking to make a change. The production company, YKS Film Maker Sdn Bhd, will be the first in Malaysia to give royalty payment to the main cast of one of its movies. "Instead of just waiting for other people to initiate it, why not we start it?" said Executive Producer of the production company, Serina Redzuawan, as quoted by The Rakyat Post. "All main casts in this film will receive royalties after further discussions on percentage and other matters." The musical comedy, aimed to be released on the first day of Raya, follows the lives of rockers in the city. Sofi Jikan, who directs and stars in the movie, pitched the original storyline four years ago, according to Serina. The actor admitted he wanted to make the film because he wanted to be a rockstar. The movie cast includes Izara Aishah, Saiful Apek, Sharifah Amani, Aqasha and Khir Rahman, as well as the late Harun Salim Bachik. "Gangsterock: Kasi Sengat" opens in local cinemas this 17 July.
