25 Aug – "Straight Outta Compton" proves hip hop is not dead as the N.W.A biographical drama takes another win at the weekend box office in the U.S. "Straight Outta Compton" placed number one for a second week, making another USD26.3 million last weekend, bringing its worldwide gross now to USD111.2 million. Second place is occupied by "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" once again, as it collected another USD11.4 million. Worldwide it now has a total gross of USD438.8 million. Third place is haunted by quite a sinister entity as Bughuul makes a return in "Sinister 2". The sequel to the 2012 movie "Sinister" opened last weekend at number three, with a domestic collection of USD10.5 million. The movie also opened in Malaysia and Singapore but didn't seem sinister enough to dominate amongst the top three there.
"Hitman: Agent 47", a movie based on the same name video game, was not a hit in the U.S. but managed to open at number one in Malaysia. Following closely behind is "Inside Out", the highly-acclaimed animated film placed second on its opening weekend. It's almost game over for "Pixels" as it take a tumble and falls two spots to third place. Singapore also welcomed "Hitman: Agent 47" with open arms, the movie placing first on its opening weekend is proof. Part of the reason could be because the movie was also filmed in Singapore. "Pixels" moved one level down to second place while "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" managed to scale the top three again and landed at third place. Last weekend, Malaysia also saw the releases of new movies "Sinister 2", "The Noise", "Absolutely Anything", "Crayon Shin-Chan: Cactus Big Attack", "All Is Well", "Misi Rayyan Dan Danish: Jangan Ambil Rumah Kami", "Jigina" and "Space Station". Singapore's new releases last weekend include "All Is Well", "Jigina", "Wild City", "7 Letters", "Anata Wo Zutto Aishiteru", "Return to Sender" and "Sinister 2".
