Vin Diesel spills more on "Fast and Furious" trilogy

L-R: Vin Diesel, Rob Cohen and the late Paul Walker.

2 Oct – After his recent announcement of a final trilogy for the "Fast and Furious" franchise, Vin Diesel seems to be on a campaign to get director Rob Cohen to helm the project.

In one of his latest Facebook posts, the actor talked more about the trilogy, hoping for the script to be delivered within the next two weeks and saying that he and Justin Lin, helmer of the third until sixth instalments of the franchise, have been discussing the trilogy as they have "dreamed it for almost a decade".

However, Lin won't be able to return to the director's seat in time to wrap up shooting for "Star Trek Beyond".

Cohen's name has creeped up in a couple of the actor's posts, hinting that he wants the man who directed 2001's "Fast and Furious", the movie that in fourteen years has spawned six sequels, and counting, to return and direct the final trilogy.

"There has always been the desire by Paul to have Rob direct one more, this is what fueled my campaign... I believe that he can and would reset the franchise nicely, returning to what was the core of the film in the beginning... racing," he posted.

"He would also handle the Brian O'Connor issue with integrity, given that he and David Ayer were the ones who initially created that beloved character in the first place."

A previous post shows a photo of Cohen flanked by the actor himself and the late Paul Walker, who played Brian O'Connor up until his sudden demise in 2013.

The actor promised this will be the one last trilogy to end the saga.

The first of the final trilogy movies is slated for release in North American cinemas on 14 April 2017.
