27 Aug – You'll be seeing red again because "The Angry Birds Movie" has leveled up for a sequel! Rovio Entertainment, the Finnish company that brought us the popular "Angry Birds" mobile game app and recent big screen adaptation, revealed that it is hatching a follow-up to the 2016 movie. Rovio CEO Kati Levoranta stated so in the company's earnings report, according to Variety, though she did not give out further details. The animated movie was released back in May, making a worldwide gross of USD346.9 million against its USD73 million budget, based on Box Office Mojo stats. More than half of its profit came from international markets. A chunk of its collection came from China's USD75.8 million gross. The Malaysia and Singapore markets contributed USD3.3 million and USD2 million, respectively. It is expected to earn more since it has yet to be released in one remaining market, Japan. It remains to be seen whether director Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly will return to helm, and whether any of the original voice cast, which includes Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Peter Dinklage, Sean Penn and the directors themselves, will be coming back for the sequel.
