15 Feb – "Ip Man 3" lead actor Donnie Yen has just joined the cast of "xXx 3: The Return of Xander Cage" replacing Jet Li.
It is still unsure why Jet Li has left the project, but this means Yen will take the role of the villain, Xiang.
Paramount had just successfully closed a deal to distribute the film which has "I Am Number Four" director, D.J. Caruso, to take over the action-packed sequel.
The movie's plot, per the studio, sees operative Xander Cage coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior, Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking allies, Cage finds himself trapped in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments.
Donnie Yen is known for his flair in martial arts that has credited him in big films such as "Shanghai Knights", "Blade 2" and the "Ip Man" trilogy.
The Hong Kong actor is also part of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and will be seen in the upcoming "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny," alongside Michelle Yeoh.
The sequel will see Samuel L. Jackson returning to reprise his role.
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone joins Ruby Rose and Nina Dobrev as the femme fatales and MMA fighter Conor McGregor will join Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa in this global casted, action-packed film which releases in 2017.
