"Emojimovie" reveals first look at characters

Here's your official first look at "Emojimovie: Express Yourself".

11 Oct - Remember more than a year ago when Sony Pictures Animation announced their plan to make an animated feature revolving around the emoji icons?

As cringeworthy as it may sound, that's the Hollywood of today. After all, if popular properties like "The Lego Movie" and "The Angry Birds Movie" could end up as box office hits, why not this?

Sony Pictures Animation has recently revealed the official title of the animated emoji movie, which will now be called "Emojimovie: Express Yourself".

Starring T.J. Miller ("Deadpool"), who voices Gene, James Corden and Ilana Glazer have also come on board as Hi-5 and Jailbreak, respectively.

Here's what director Anthony Leondis ("Igor") has to say about some of the emoji characters in the movie: "Hi-5 is a high-five emoji who is a highly motivated, and highly dramatic, hand on a mission (sorry), and the brilliantly versatile, ebullient and always lovable James Corden fits this part like a glove (sorry again)."

"For the rebel 'break all the codes' computer programmer emoji Jailbreak, Ilana Glazer is the kind of singularly free-spirited, fearless and funny actress to make girls really feel the empowered 'nobody's gonna keep me in a cage' attitude this character exudes," he added.

The movie's synopsis stated that it "unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone."

Living in Textopolis are emojis, hoping to be selected by the phone's user. Each emoji only has one expression, except for Gene, who is born without filter thus making him capable of various expressions. Wanting to become "normal" like his friends, he and his handy best friend Hi-5 and code breaker emoji Jailbreak go in search of the Code that will fix Gene.

"Emojimovie: Express Yourself" is expressing itself on the big screen next year.
