18 Feb – The production of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has officially started filming as announced on their website. Director James Gunn confirmed that Kurt Russell from Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" is the latest addition to the cast, playing a vital role that focuses on Peter Quill's search for his true father. "Official photography on 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,' has started, and I couldn't be more stoked," Gunn shared the news on his social media accounts, along with a teaser image.

I never thought anyone was missing from our island of misfit toys, but now that these folks are here there feels like there was. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, and Glenn Close are all returning. Gunn had spoken to Russell in December regarding the role in the film, but the 64-year-old actor admitted that he was unfamiliar with the movie. However he did mention that he will read the script and watch the movie as he was honoured to be considered for the role. Gunn also confirmed that Canadian actress Pom Klementieff will be playing Mantis, a green-skinned martial-arts master on his Twitter. He ended his announcement with, "We'll have more surprises for you in the coming months. But, for now, this will have to do." "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is set for release in May 2017. It stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista and Michael Rooker.
