Javier Bardem is the new Frankenstein's monster?

Javier Bardem is in talks for the Frankenstein's monster role.

13 Jul – With the classic monsters universe of Universal Pictures slowly but surely expanding, it is reported that the next monster in line the studio will bring to the big screen is Frankenstein's monster.

Javier Bardem ("Skyfall", "No Country for Old Men") is currently in talks for the role, according to Deadline.

However, it is still unknown whether the monster will get its own standalone movie or will appear in one of the other movies planned for the cinematic universe.

Adapted from Mary Shelley's novel, "Frankenstein", Frankenstein's monster
has been in many movies including 1942's "The Ghost of Frankenstein" (pictured).

Currently, the studio's roster includes Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe in "The Mummy", directed by screenwriter Alex Kurtzman, while Johnny Depp will be the titular star of the "Invisible Man" reboot.

There have also been rumours of Dwayne Johnson possibly playing the Wolf Man.

Only "The Mummy" has a release date so far, 9 June 2017. The studio has also set two yet-to-be-named movies for 13 April 2018 and 15 February 2019.

Bardem may or may not be playing a monster soon, but he is sure to be seen on the big screen next in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales".
