"Star Wars" Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher, passes away


Carrie Fisher passed away after suffering from a heart attack.

28 Dec – After recent news of actress Carrie Fisher suffering a heart attack while on a plane, it was reported that the "Star Wars" star has passed away in Los Angeles.

"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," Simon Halls, a spokesperson representing Fisher's daughter stated, according to NBC News.

Fisher was en route from London to Los Angeles via a United Airlines flight on Friday when she suffered the cardiac arrest and was later hospitalised in Los Angeles.

The actress is best known and loved for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" saga. She was last seen playing the iconic role in last year's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

She would be seen in her posthumous role as Princess Leia once again in "Star Wars: Episode VIII", which she had finished filming recently.

Fisher most recently had been promoting her eighth book, "The Princess Diarist".

The actress is survived by her daughter Billie Lourd, her mother Debbie Reynolds and her brother Todd Fisher.

She was 60.
