Spidey's 2017 movie gets its official title

Catch Spidey in his 2017 "Homecoming".

14 Apr – The upcoming Spider-Man movie has finally received its official title, "Spider-Man: Homecoming".

Spidey himself, a.k.a. Tom Holland, revealed the new title during CinemaCon at Las Vegas while also explaining the reason behind calling it so.

"Peter (Parker) is trying to find his way home," Holland said, as quoted by Deadline.

Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment's Motion Picture Group, Tom Rothman added that the title has a high school ring it.

Prior to appearing in his standalone "Homecoming", which will be part of Marvel's cinematic universe, Holland will first make his debut as the web-slinger in "Captain America: Civil War", releasing this 28 April.

Additionally, Holland just might find himself battling Michael Keaton on the big screen. According to Variety, the "Birdman" star is in talks to play the villain in the upcoming Spider-Man solo movie. Looks like Keaton is moving from playing a DC hero (1989 "Batman") to a Marvel villain.

Once confirmed, Keaton will be joining current cast, Holland; Marissa Tomei, playing Aunt May; and Zendaya, playing Michelle.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" swings into cinemas on 6 July 2017.
