Catch the Czech Republic film fest in Malaysia this March

"A Vote for the King of the Romans" will be screened at the Czech Republic Film Festival.

20 Feb – Next month, the Czech Republic Film Festival (CRFF) is set to be held in selected GSC cinemas in Malaysia.

Organised by the Embassy of Czech Republic, a total of five movies have been selected to be screened at the upcoming festival.

Below are the five titles for this year's CRFF:

• "A Vote for the King of Romans"
• "Oldies but Goldies"
• "Kolya"
• "Dark Blue World"
• "Elementary School"

Tickets for the movies will be given free to the public, while tickets last.

The selection for CRFF includes both old and new titles, including the Oscar-winning 1996 "Kolya", which tells of a middle-aged Czech cellist whose new bride has left him and now he has to care for her five-year-old Russian son.

The newest title is 2016's "A Vote for the King of the Romans", about the election of a new king for the Roman Empire in 1346.

Before that comes 2012's "Oldies but Goldies", a comedy drama of two people who wish to live life to the fullest despite their age.

Jan Svěrák's (director of "Kolya") "Dark Blue World", tells of the friendship between two Czech pilots, the veteran Franta and fresh-faced young trainee Karel.

Last but not least, is Sverak's debut comedy feature film, "Elementary School", about 10-year-old Eda Soucek and his friend Tonda Cejka who attend a boys' classroom with a very bad reputation.

The Czech Republic Film Festival is taking place at GSC Pavilion KL, GSC Mid Valley and GSC 1 Utama from 9 to 12 March 2017.
