19 Jul – Movie fans in Sabah, here is your chance to enjoy a wide variety of interesting and thought-provoking movies on the big screen as the Kota Kinabalu International Film Festival (KKIFF) 2017 kicks off this weekend!

With 27 movies from 18 countries to be screened at this year's KKIFF, there is a title to suit every avid fan's taste.

The films for KKIFF 2017 are divided into two categories, movies by Asian filmmakers fall under the Cinebalu banner while international movies from non-Asian filmmakers fall under World Movies.

The selected titles are comprised of both feature films as well as short films from around the world. Nine of the screenings will also include Q&A sessions with the directors.

Opening night will take place on 22 July, with "Redha" (Malaysia's official selection for the Academy Awards 2016) as the opening film.

Closing night on 29 July will see the World Premiere of the black comedy "Mencari Rahmat", starring Nam Ron, Amerul Affendi and Nadia Aqilah. This may be the movie's only screening in Malaysia this year, according to a post on its official Facebook page.

The KKIFF 2017 Awards Night was already held last night at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, where certificates and awards were handed out to the participants of Sabah Film Academy and the winners of the BUZZ10 Filmmakers' Competition.

Kota Kinabalu International Film Festival (KKIFF) 2017 is taking place from 22 to 29 July at MBO Imago Mall.
