"Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba " set to go global


"Tombiruo" is well on its way to making a name in the international market.

2 Nov – Following the success of "Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba", the Astro Shaw, Ideate Media, Grup Buku Karangkraf and Layar Sunan production is set to create its own movie history by going global.

It has been confirmed that Ideate Media is collaborating with AMP International for the movie's worldwide distribution.

"The producers and director Seth Larney have successfully brought to life an 'Asian Superhero' film that is "Tombiruo"," AMP International Director of Global Sales and Acquisitions James Norrie said in a statement.

"We are looking forward to marketing this movie to the international scene as well as forming its own fan base."

Adapted from Malaysia's number one thriller novel by Ramlee Awang Murshid, the film has now grossed over RM7 million within 18 days of screening in 117 cinemas.

The film producers are grateful for the local support and are still actively promoting the movie even more so now with competitions from international blockbusters.

"Tombiruo: Penunggu Rimba" follows Ejim, who goes by Tombiruo after being deemed as the forest's guard. Always wearing a mask, he is alienated by fellow villagers for having an unhuman-like face. When a tragic incident takes place, Ejim becomes enraged and sets out to get his vengeance.

An outstanding group of local talents is featured in the movie such as Zul Ariffin, Farid Kamil, Hasnul Rahmat, Faizal Hussein, Dynas Mokhtar, Dato' M. Nasir, and Faye Kusairi.
