"Bollocks!" says Fox on 24 mins "Bohemian Rhapsody" cuts in M'sia

"Bohemian Rhapsody" did not suffer as major a cut in Malaysia as netizens seem to assume.

13 Nov – "Bohemian Rhapsody" is rocking Malaysia for a whole 'nother reason at the moment. The internet has been abuzz with news of the movie shown in Malaysian cinemas being supposedly 24 minutes shorter than the original version.

However, the team from 20th Century Fox Malaysia assures that this is all "bollocks".

"We assure you that the official running time is 131 minutes and nothing less," posted the studio on Facebook, adding that Malaysians' experience of the movie is definitely not compromised.

The rumour first broke on Twitter when someone noted that the runtime on a local cinema's website was considerably shorter than the original version.

It should be pointed out that at the time, the runtime was yet to be updated to the current version that's showing in cinemas now.

Following the tweet, false speculations of the movie suffering such major cuts due to its homosexual contents started spreading.

In reality, the movie went through very minor editing to make it more suitable for local consumption.

Only about 3 minutes were edited from the original 134 minutes runtime and based on our own experience of watching the movie, the minor cuts did not inhibit the audience from fully enjoying the Queen tale starring Rami Malek as the explosive Freddie Mercury.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is now rocking in cinemas near you!
