27 Feb – Dubai Police has confirmed that Indian actress Sridevi's cause of death was drowning in her hotel bathtub following loss of consciousness. Sridevi, who starred in more than 240 movies in her career, died on 24 February 2018 in Dubai with initial reports stating that her death was due to cardiac arrest. However, a forensic report from UAE's Ministry of Health, which was shared by the Dubai Police on social media, has listed that the cause of death was due to accidental drowning when they found traces of alcohol in her body which may have led to the accident.
The Dubai Police has now transferred the case to the Dubai Public Prosecution, which will carry out regular legal procedures followed in such cases. Sridevi was only 54 when she passed and is considered Hindi cinema's first female superstar, having featured in classics like "Mr. India", "Nagina", "Lamhe", and "ChaalBaaz". Her final feature appearance was in 2017's "Mom" and she would be seen in a cameo role posthumously in this year's "Zero" when it comes out on 21 December.
