31 May - Another video game movie previously announced to be in the works has found its lead star in the form of James Marsden. The "Westworld" actor will be starring in the Paramount live-action hybrid movie, "Sonic the Hedgehog" with Jeff Fowler, an Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Short Film, who will be making his theatrical directorial debut with the film. The game which was introduced in 1991 by SEGA, has sold more than 360 million copies to date. Making this the first time the character has ever been adapted for the big screen, the game's general storyline features a blue hedgehog named Sonic, who is on a quest to defeat the evil Doctor Eggman Robotnik and save his animal friends. It is unclear who Marsden - who played Cyclops in the first few "X-Men" movies and now Teddy in HBO's "Westworld" - will be playing in the adaptation. Could he be voicing Sonic himself or could he be playing Doctor Robotnik? The "Sonic The Hedgehog" movie is expected to be released in November, 2019.
