James Wan working with "Spider-Man" director on another Dutch horror film

Dutch horror short film "The Burden" will be adapted into a feature film.

24 May – Horror maestro James Wan has added another title to his list of movies to produce. It is yet another feature length adaptation of a Dutch horror short film.

Wan will be teaming up with Sam Raimi, who's well known for directing the "Spider-Man" trilogy and creating the "Evil Dead" series, to produce the movie, according to Deadline.

Called "The Burden", the short film was written and directed by Nico van den Brink, who will also be the one helming the big screen adaptation.

The movie will expand on the tale of a woman who visits her boyfriend's family home only to discover a sinister history with his creepy neighbour. All kinds of skeletons come out of the closet following this discovery.

Dutch company NL Film en TV, who financed and produced the short film, will be producing the feature film along with Wan's Atomic Monster and Raimi's Ghost House Pictures.

This is the second van den Brink short film that Wan is producing. In 2017, New Line acquired his "Sweet Tooth" for a movie adaptation, which, of course, also has Wan on board as producer.

Next up for Wan is this year's "Annabelle Comes Home", followed by "The Conjuring 3" next year, "Mortal Kombat" in 2021 and "Aquaman 2" in 2022. At the moment, he only has producing works lined up and has yet to confirm a new movie that he will be directing himself.
