6 Sep – Film aficionados can now see their fix of Japanese films as the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) in Malaysia returns to cinemas. The 15th edition of the annual film event brings 13 titles from different genres to celebrate the 30th anniversary celebration of the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur since their establishment in 1989. The Japanese Film Festival 2019 was officially launched on the 3rd of September with the South East Asian premiere of "Little Nights, Little Love". The Opening Ceremony held at GSC Pavilion KL was attended by some 250 guests with YBrs. Dr. Tan Awang Besar, Undersecretary of the Cultural Policy Division, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture delivering the officiating speech. Also in attendance were Mr. Shimada Seiya, Director of The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) and Mr. Heng Beng Fatt, Deputy General Manager of GSC.
The Japanese Film Festival 2019 will be held in the Klang Valley from 5 to the 11 September at GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama, GSC Pavilion KL, and GSC NU Sentral followed by Penang (GSC Gurney Plaza) from 12–15 September. Johor Bahru is next with GSC Paradigm Mall from 19 to 22 September and JFF will then be touring East Malaysia to Kuching (GSC CityONE Megamall) and Kota Kinabalu (GSC Suria Sabah) from 3 to 6 October.
