Chucky is getting Luke Skywalker's voice

The titular killer doll as last seen on the big screen in 2017's "Cult of Chucky".

1 Apr – This is not a joke. Chucky might sound a little different in the upcoming eight instalment of the "Child's Play" franchise, yet he'll also sound familiar to "Star Wars" fans.

That's because Mark Hamill, a.k.a. Luke Skywalker, has been tapped to voice the demonic doll in this summer's "Child's Play".

Deadline reported that Hamill announced the news himself, via a taped greeting, at Orion Pictures' pane presentation at WonderCon in Anaheim last weekend.

"If you're wondering who's going to play Chucky in the new Child's Play," Hamill said in the video. "You're looking at him."

"Star Wars" fans must be excited to hear Mark Hamill voice a possessed doll next.

Hamill wouldn't have any problem voicing the killer doll since he did make his film debut as a voice actor in the 1977 animated film, "Wizards", and has been lending his voice to various film characters over the years (he, in fact, has had five voice roles within these past two years).

In the previous movies, Chucky had always been voiced by Brad Dourif. However, since this new movie also serves as a reboot of the 1998 "Child's Play", it doesn't involve Dourif and franchise creator Don Mancini.

So, to "Star Wars" fans who are now looking forward to hearing Hamill voice Chucky, make a playdate with "Child's Play" in cinemas this June.
