Pinewood, Iskandar Malaysia end 10-year partnership

It will now only be known as Iskandar Malaysia Studios (IMS).

12 Jul – It's been 10 years since Pinewood Group and Iskandar Malaysia Studios started their collaboration and now the decade-long partnership has come to an end.

As of 10 July 2019, Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios is now known as Iskandar Malaysia Studios (IMS).

A joint statement, via Deadline, says, "Pinewood Group's collaboration with IMS comes to a close by mutual agreement, following a 10 year partnership where Pinewood provided consultancy, brand and marketing services.

"With the initial objectives of the collaboration achieved – including the development of the Studios in Malaysia – both parties will now focus on the next phase of their respective businesses."

Construction on the 30-acre Malaysian complex begun in 2010, following the agreement between Pinewood (before its acquisition by Aermont Capital in 2016) and Khazanah Nasional Berhad.

In 2014, the facility, which includes 100,000 square feet of film stages, was opened.

The productions that have shot at the facility includes the Netflix series, "Marco Polo", as well as the regional versions of "The Voice" and "Asia's Got Talent".
