Singaporean actor Chin Han to star in "Mortal Kombat"

28 Aug – Singaporean actor Ng Chin Han (also known as Chin Han) is set to star in the upcoming Hollywood reboot of the video game franchise, "Mortal Kombat".

As reported on Variety, the actor will be joining the cast that includes Joe Taslim, Ludi Lin, and Jessica McNamee, who will play Sub Zero, Liu Kang, and Sonya Blade, respectively. Others include Josh Lawson (Kano), Tadanobu Asano (Raiden), Mehcad Brooks (Jackson "Jax" Bridges), and Hiroyuki Sanada (Scorpion).

Chin reportedly will play the role of Shang Tsung, one of the few original "Mortal Kombat" characters that made its debut as the final boss in its first arcade game.

Shang Tsung is described as a demonic shape-shifter and evil warlock who absorbs the living souls of those he defeats in order to maintain his youth and power.

Among other actors who have portrayed this character include Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa ("Mortal Kombat", 1995) and Bruce Locke ("Mortal Kombat: Konquest", 1998-1999).

The upcoming film is tentatively scheduled for a 2021 release.

Chin's last film was the 2018 Dwayne Johnson-starrer, "Skyscraper".
