6 Aug – Just hours ago, actor-director Andy Serkis tweeted something that made everyone in the Venom fandom pretty psyched. "It's happening. The Symbiote has found a host in me and I'm ready for the ride...Can't wait!" Serkis posted on his Twitter account. Rumours of him being in talks to direct "Venom 2" started about a couple of weeks ago, which Tom Hardy seemed to have accidentally confirmed last week when the actor posted a photo of Serkis on his Instagram that he then quickly deleted – presumably after realising he'd unintentionally leaked undisclosed info.
This marks Serkis' third directorial effort, following last year's "Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle" and his 2017 directorial debut, "Breathe".
As was previously reported, Tom Hardy will be reprising the title character, with Kelly Marcel returning to pen the sequel's script. Filming for "Venom 2" is expected to begin this fall. No release date has been set but it is speculated that Sony's October 2020 slot for a Marvel sequel is intended for the sequel. The plot and other cast have yet to be revealed but fans are hoping to see Woody Harrelson's Carnage as the villain, since his possible appearance in the sequel was teased in the post-credits scene of last year's "Venom".
